128 PMKS Sent to Hometowns

As many as 128 people with social welfare issues (PMKS) were sent home to their hometowns by Jakarta Social Department on Friday (5/23). 55 out of them were sent to Central Java and the rest 73 people returned to West Java.

They signed an agreement not to repeat their previous jobs, either begging, vagrancy, singing on the streets, et cetera

The 128 social inmates (WBS) were previously from three institutions, namely Bina Insani Social I (Kedoya, West Jakarta), PSBI II (Ceger, East Jakarta), and PSBI III (Cengkareng, West Jakarta). Majority of them are beggars, vagrants, and psychotics netted by officers in five municipalities.

Head of Jakarta Social Department Rehabilitation Social Section, Prayitno, said all PMKS sent home have made an affidavit stating that they will never return to Jakarta. “They signed an agreement not to repeat their previous jobs, either begging, vagrancy, singing on the streets, et cetera,” he told.

Anticipation Prepared to Minimize PMKS in E. Jakarta

According to Prayitno, if they returned to Jakarta and got netted again, they will be reported to the police for further process in accordance to the applicable rules.

Sukarjo (50), one of the inmates from Kendal, Central Java, promised he would not be a vagrant anymore in Jakarta. He was netted by Satpol PP and West Jakarta Social Sub-Department officers some time ago in Cengkareng for begging at Cengkareng junction every day. “I don’t want to beg anymore in Jakarta, as it was not as beautiful as imagined. I’ll be a labor in my hometown,” he expressed.
